I purchased a coffee maker yesterday. Mom used to tell me that she wants one, probably to smell the coffee bean aroma in the morning. So I got her one. Nothing fancy, just the regular coffee maker that, well, makes coffee. I never knew there were a lot of coffee makers there --- different colors, different features... there was on with a toaster attached to it. Pretty cool, huh? But I made my decision in 5 minutes. I just looked at the price tags. Now choosing the coffee... that's a different story.
So mom and I went our separate ways in the supermarket. She headed to the meat section as I scanned the coffee area and did I make the biggest decision of my life. It was easier to get my Starbucks coffee.. tall caramel macchiato. Sometimes though I go for the tall caramel red tea latte but that still isn't hard to decide on. But with the coffee beans... that took me a good 45 minute self-assessment-decision-making-quest.
I never thought that getting coffee beans can be complicated --- I had a re-assessment of myself for a moment there. I had to think if I was the Arabica or Robusta type... am I the espresso, French, dark French, Spanish, American, light or new England type... do i want bitter, bittersweet, burnt, clean or earthy... then there's the barako, lipa's best and batangas brew... i got nauseous thinking about what coffee to get. And writing this got me nauseous again that I lost my point...
PS: If you have to know, I settled for the Café de Lipa in the end. It’s good but I’d still rather have someone else make me my tall caramel macchiato.
