of birthdays, roast beefs and koi

Since I celebrated my birthday with the family on Sunday and got nothing better to do, I decided to help my friend Steph celebrate her birthday (which was next day as mine).

We planned a spa trip to Sonya's Garden in Tagaytay but since I have a spa membership here in Manila (in which I will only pay 1/8 of the massage in Sonya's), we just decided to eat at Bag of Beans. I've been there many times before and I just love their roast beef so that's what I ordered. I also loved their cinnamon and raisin bread (freshly baked, mind you) so I ordered that for starters while waiting for my roast beef. Twas heavenly! Who would have thought that the thinly sliced beef can fill you superbly?! It comes with this creamy mashed potato and some veggies. Super yum. And the bread was also super good.
We headed to the ukay-ukay after lunch and I got myself 6 tops and 1 pair of pants for only Php 500.00! You just have to really be aggressive in finding those clothes amongst the hundreds lined up in the racks. I wasn't able to take a picture of the ukay-ukay coz I was too overwhelmed with my finds. Haha! There were actually 3 major ukay-ukay places there but I only liked the first one where I got all my stuff. I just love retail therapy on my birthday :)
I wanted to try out the zipline but Steph wasn't up for it so I didn't bother going there anymore. We stopped by Rowena's though for some pasalubong. I wanted to get a whole lot of things but just settled with Buko Tart for my family and strawberry cheesetart and a latte for myself. No exaggeration, the coffee was super good! I wanted another cup but we already left the place.

Last stop of our day trip was Nuvali. The place was awesome for someone who like nature. It has a man-made lake with koi fish and water taxis. There was also a bike trail around the lake but it was too hot to do that so we just rode the water taxi and fed the fish.

The taxi ride only lasted for 10 mins and you had to wear a life vest which I didn't like. It was still relaxing though and fun to go around Nuvali. The fish feeding was a totally awesome experience! The hundreds of fish swarms up to you when you throw in the feeds and it was really fun doing that. I run up and down the deck to see if they will follow me and they really do. That was really great.

The superb day ended great and I was totally happy with the birthday treat I gave myself. Will definitely go the same road next time with my family :)
