I never knew that burritos and burgers came together but am I glad that Army Navy came up with it. I was awestruck the first time I tasted their burgers and I couldn't stop saying how good it was (believe me.. Steph got annoyed coz I was still reminiscing about my burger after a movie and frozen yoghurt).
One thing I hate about going to a new burger place is deciding what to order -- plain hamburger, cheeseburger, texas bbq burger, bacon with melted cheese burger, diet burger, veggie burger and so on. It gets me frustrated that I want to try everything but I can't. At Army Navy, the only decision I have to make is how hungry am I coz ordering is simple: (1) Burger (2) Double Burger (3) Bully Boy Burger or the burger with triple quarter pound beef patties! Now that's quite easy. The burgers come with fresh crispy lettuce, a large tomato slice & onions, mayo, ketchup on a toasted sesame seed Kaiser bun. The only downside is that the bun is too soft that it gets soggy after a couple of minutes. You might want to eat fast so it doesn't get too messy.
Now a burger goes well with fries and Army Navy has one of the best fries. They call it Freedom Fries and it's seasoned, thin-cut, crispy, zesty fries. Goes so well with the burger and the burrito. The onion rings is equally good: large, crispy coated fried onions.
The other big hit in Army Navy is the burrito. You can choose between steak, chicken, pork, all-day breakfast or vegetarian. I found the burrito ok but not too satisfying coz it's too heavy on the tummy and the rice and lettuce overpowers the meat. I still prefer Mexicali's burrito at any given day.
Other things on the menu are soft tacos, quesadillas, fearless fried chicken and one I wish to try someday, the Starving Sailor (thinly sliced rib eye steak or chicken topped with jalapeno-cheese spread, green bell pepper and caramelized onions in an 8-inch sourdough bread.
I haven't decided if Army Navy is American or Mexican but for now, I'll call it great food :)
