The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak

Step 1: Turn
Step 2: Mix
Step 3:Sizzle
The Sizzlin' Pepper Steak is (said to be) a rip of from the Singaporean resto Pepper Lunch. They have the same DIY concept, same food presentation and almost the same menu. I've always wanted to try PL or SPS but never had the chance until today. Yan and I went to the one in Harbor Square while waiting for the hospital's lunch break to be over so she can submit her requirements for residency.
I guess the reason why I've never really tried it even when the smell when I pass by PL or SPS bugs me to death is because I'm never with someone who has tried it before and the thought of DIY dining scared me. But thanks to Yan, my fear was conquered.
I didn't like the set up of heavy wooden stools and tables. It felt so heavy and tight inside the dining area plus the one at Harbor Square had a really small space. But the dining experience and the taste of their food blew me away.
I chose the best seller Beef Pepper Steak and Yan opted for the Pork Curry Steak (it's her 4th time to eat here). It comes in a sizzling platter that keeps the food hot for the entire duration of your meal. It actually kinda makes eating hard but I appreciate the fact that you can enjoy the meat the moment it is cooked. You need to move quickly though and turn the meat so it's cooked on both sides.

Step 2 is mix the meat and rice. I had a hard time doing this and created a lil mess on the side of my plate. You also need to pour the sauce (and SPS has 9 different sauces to choose from) on the meat and rice for a more excellent taste. They give you the default steak sauce if you don't specify your request. You hear the sizzle (which is the third step) as you pour your sauce in. The rice is a delish combination of garlic butter, roasted pepper and teriyaki sauce.

It's a bit pricey at P195 for the Beef Pepper Steak and P185 for the Pork Curry Steak but it was worth it. If you want good food with the smell of pepper steak on your shirt the rest of the day, then Sizzlin' Pepper Steak is a must try. Pepper Lunch is next on my list.
