Why do you need to pick just one day out of 365 to show love? Why stress yourself reserving dinner for two at a swanky resto just to be late for it because of the heavy traffic this day brings? Valentine's day is so overrated that some people go gaga over celebrating it. Not that this day shouldn't exist. What I'm saying is everyday should be a love day (like everyday should be Christmas which is about the same thing anyways).
God's love isn't only for one day. It's very much alive 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. All year round. It knows no time limit. It doesn't expire. And He didn't send a card that says "be my valentine". His love invitation is not just for one particular person but it's for everyone.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not bitter that I'm celebrating Independence Day instead of Valentine's Day like the rest of the world. I just firmly believe that the world's interpretation of a love day has been commercialized that it deviates from what it should be about in the first place. Love is a great thing and with or without someone special to celebrate it with, it should not affect the way one looks at this day. There is no such thing as Samahan ng Malalamig ang Valentines because as long as there's someone loving you, whether it's a family member, a friend or even your dog, then you can celebrate love anytime. And in case, just in case, you really think that no one's out there to give you love, know that God is in love with you. And that's the best kind of love there is. Nothing can top that.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails. (1 Corinthians 13:4-8)
