Friend Request Received

Out of all your Facebook friends, how many of them are you actually close to? I bet that if you cleaned out your friend list and keep only those who you consider close to you, you'll end up with only a handful.

Being acquainted with someone is different from someone you actually have a relationship with. You only see an acquaintance once in while, some you probably only met once in your life while you see a close friend on a regular basis. An acquaintance knows very little about you while a close friend can fill out a hospital information sheet for you. An acquaintance may not even know where you live while a close friend comes to your house and enters your room even though you're not home.

Jesus wants this kind of relationship with you. He doesn't just want you to get acquainted to Him, He wants you to be close to Him. He wants to walk with you every single day, He wants to be with you in all areas of your life and He always wants to talk with you. Jesus knows everything about you, from the number of hairs in your head to the things that break your heart. And He wants to comfort you. He wants to bless you. He wants an intimate relationship with you.

So will you?

When?

I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead I have called you friends for everything that I learned from the Father I have made known to you. You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you to go and bear fruit -- fruit that will last. Then the Father will give you whatever you ask in my name. (John 15:16)
