When We're Quiet, God Speaks

Ever since the Purple Book chapter on Spiritual Gifts, I've been trying to know what mine was. I've been reading on these gifts, its manifestation and I was actually going to technical on how to find out what mine are. But God didn't want me to search it this way. He had another plan and revealed it to me when I stopped thinking about what my spiritual gifts are.

And so as I sat quietly before the Lord today, here's what He told me:

A green Shoot will sprout from Jesse's stump, from his roots a budding Branch. The life-giving Spirit of God will hover over him, the Spirit that brings wisdom and understanding; The Spirit that gives direction and builds strength, the Spirit that instills knowledge and Fear-of-God. Fear-of-God will be all his joy and delight. (Isaiah 11:1-3, The Message)

Now I'm claiming these things from the Lord today. I was overcome with peace after I read these verses 3 times over. It's not exactly spelling out what my Spiritual Gifts are but these Spirit of wisdom, of understanding, one that gives direction and builds strength, one that instills knowledge and fear of God... I'm more than overwhelmed and encouraged by these. So what's God's promise to you?

A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit. (Isaiah 11:1, NIV)

Oh and by the way, my grandpa's name is Jesse :)
