The problem with us, the reason why some conflicts get out of proportion is because when we're angry, we think only of ourselves. We're in a hurry to explain our side, to defend ourselves and to make our point. We get too preoccupied with ourselves that we forget one important thing when dealing with people -- we forget to listen.
The next time you get in conflict with someone ask yourself what his/her needs are and think of how you can meet them. You'll be surprised at how it can actually bless you instead.

Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had. (Philippians 2:4, 5 NLT)
