How I Really Felt About the Dead Battery

Can I be honest? I really wanted to get pissed when I realized why the battery died. I was hungry (and you know how people are when hungry) and tired and I have 3 guests waiting for me. I didn't know how to fix a dead battery, it was raining, it was dark and the thought of an unexpected P4,500.00 expense for a replacement car battery would be a killer.

But I decided that what happened was an accident. It's not like she planned to keep the headlights on. She was also hungry, tired and had 3 guests waiting for her. She didn't know either how to fix a dead battery, it was raining, it was dark and the thought of me spending unexpectedly on a new battery would probably make her feel horrible.

And at the end of the day, relationships are way more important than material things. Our friendship was way more valuable than a dead battery. It would not help at all to get mad. Blaming her would definitely not bring the battery back to life.

I just had to remind myself of the two options I had: sell myself short and get angry at an accident that I could have caused myself or love even if. Either way, the fact is, we have a dead battery. So I chose love.

Understand this: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry. Human anger does not produce the righteousness God desires. James 1:19-20, NLT
