Are You Busy?

We live about 70 years or, if we are strong, 80 years. But most of them are filled with hard work and pain. Then, suddenly, the years are gone, and we fly away. (Psalm 90:10, ERV)

Last I checked, we all have 24 hours in a day. All of us. But how come some people seem busier than the rest? And how come some busy people I know are still able to spend time with their family, go on vacation, travel, read books and go shopping?

Eileen Silva Kindig says, "We talk about lack of time when what we lack is backbone to take responsibility for how we spend it."

We all do what we do but how much of what's scheduled in your day are actually important? How much of your time do you spend procrastinating? Waiting? Being lazy? Working on things that are not really important?

Time is so precious that God doesn't give it to us in one blow. He hands it over to us one moment at a time.

When you're time has passed, what exactly do you have to look back on? Working hours spent in the office rushing to meet deadlines or the hours spent with those you love?

Am I asking too many questions? Are you thinking now? Good.

Remember that you can manage time. Don't let it manage you. Decide on which commitments are worth making and think it through before agreeing to it.

Know what you really value the most, put those in your calendar first then add the rest. That's scheduling in reverse. And try to drop some things from your to-do-list that are actually not beneficial to you. Accept that you have limitations.

Be, rather than do.

But in the end, does it really make a difference what anyone does? .. God made everything beautiful in itself and in its time -- (Ecclesiastes 3:9 & 11, MSG)
