Plans Not Resolutions (but then again even those change and this is a really long title for a blog)

My job requires me to look forward and check on nitty-gritty details of every event. I should be able to look at the big picture and zoom in to the minor stuff all in one blow. I am trained to plan ahead and to be in control so the result comes out as simulated.

Hence, as geeky as it sounds, I enjoy timelines, checklists, work plans, calendaring and goal settings. I take pride and get all giddy when I tick off a major task in my to-do-list and I like celebrating milestones.

This works well for an event coordinator. But beyond my job is a totally different story. Life happens.

Although I still create personal plans and keep in my wallet a bucket list, I have accepted the fact that things can change.

I could gain a new friend and all of a sudden my schedule changes.
I could be introduced to a new hobby and all of a sudden my activity changes.
I could find a new cuisine and all of a sudden my taste preference changes.
I could fall in love and all of a sudden the world changes.

My plans change. But God's will ultimately prevails in the end. And I've never been happier that this part of me, I don't control coz He has the final say.

I'm just expecting greater things from God this 2013. He always, always surprise me anyway.

Many are the plans in a person's heart, but it is the Lord's purpose that prevails. (Proverbs 19:21, NIV)
