Walking In the Middle of a Promise

Nothing in life happens by accident. It is all orchestrated by God and when you realize exactly where you are, one can't help but be in awe of His love.

Few months back I decided that I wanted to move out of the job I was in. I was searching jobstreet when I came across this company that I want to work for so bad because they have very good compensation, the benefits are to die for and the office environment is, as I heard, totally awesome. Due to confidentiality, let's just call this company G. And so I looked at the opening positions in company G but none of which I am qualified for.

A friend referred me to Sykes for an opening for a post higher than my current but it's also based in Cebu. I went through the interview process and I passed for second interview. I found out then that the client I am being interviewed for is company G and I got all excited for it. However, I already wanted to go back to Manila and so I had to decline even though it was what I wanted.

Couple of weeks passed, I resigned and relocated my life back to Manila, without a job. I sent out my resume to a lot of companies but I after several days I haven't received any call. I was getting disheartened but I know I needed to press on. And one day true enough, Cognizant called me in for an interview. At almost the same time, another company, Altisource also called me for a schedule with their HR.

I went to the Cognizant interview and to my surprise, the client was -- yes, company G. I was ecstatic and made sure I did a good job with the interview. However to my surprise, the recruiter called me immediately after my interview to let me know that the hiring manager opted for an internal candidate but he will schedule me with another manager by next week, still with company G. I was downcast after hearing this but grateful at the same time for another upcoming opportunity.

In the meantime I went through my interview with Altisource and it went very well too. I was already making plans in the event that I will be accepted in that other office and kind of set aside my desire to work at Cognizant for company G to avoid getting disappointed.

A week after the interview with both companies, Altisource called me and advised that I made it to a second interview scheduled the next day. I was discussing with my sister then that if they accept me, I will take the offer and not wait for company G because I might also lose this one.

But God did not allow me to settle. Although Altisource is a good company, it was not in a location that I wanted and it would mean being in a job that for me was just a second option.  That same day, Cognizant called me to advise that I got the job during the first interview after all and there was just a misunderstanding with an email received from the hiring manager. I was overjoyed by this news and I couldn't believe that I was about to take something that wasn't meant for me in the first place because I lack faith.

Fast forward to today that I am on my 5th day at work in Cognizant for company G, typing away in my own laptop (I'm on break, don't worry), eating free meals, enjoying a facility that's beyond nice, in a location that's convenient for me and awaiting a comfortable paycheck. I could settle for what I think is good enough but God always has a way of letting you walk right smack in the middle of a promise.
